Transport ban for demolition firm after load overturns

Specialist contractor Haywood Crushing Demolition Ltd has been banned from transporting machinery for a year after a 45-tonne jaw crusher machine came off a trailer.

The West Midlands Traffic Commissioner heard how the machine fell off as the trailer went round a roundabout and it was “a miracle that no-one was killed or seriously injured’ in the incident in January 2022.

Chains used to secure the load were found to be inadequate while it travelled above permitted speeds without an escort vehicle.

The commissioner ruled that Herefordshire based Haywood Crushing Demolition Ltd be banned for one year from holding or obtaining any type of operator’s licence in any traffic area.
