WIMAUMA, Fla. — A serious crash involving a cement truck and a Corvette backed up traffic for some time in Wimauma, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened around 5:35 a.m. Friday morning on State Road 674 at County Road 579.

Troopers say the Corvette driver was headed westbound on S.R. 674 when it drifted into the path of a cement mixer truck traveling eastbound.

As the cement mixer slowed down for another car making a left turn, the Corvette driver hit the truck nearly head-on.

Sky 10 flew over the scene, showing the cement truck jacked up slightly from the ground. What was left of a small black car had been put on a tow truck. The entire front of the car appeared nearly destroyed.

The Corvette driver was seriously injured and airlifted to Tampa General Hospital. The cement truck driver was not injured.
